How to get the best print results from standard swing tags

Standard swing tags are printed on 350gsm silk-coated board using a full-colour CMYK process. To achieve the sharpest result, supply artwork at a minimum resolution of 300dpi at the final print size. The silk coating holds fine detail and small text well - type down to 6pt is generally legible, though 8pt and above is recommended for body copy.

Designing for a white base

The standard swing tag starts from a white base, which means colours print true without any background tint affecting your artwork. If your design includes white elements or negative space, these will appear as the natural white of the board - no white ink is required. This also means solid dark backgrounds (black, navy, deep red) print with excellent contrast and consistency.

Single-sided vs double-sided printing

Standard swing tags can be printed on one or both sides. Single-sided printing is the most cost-effective option and suits tags where the reverse will be handwritten (for example, price or personalisation). Double-sided printing is recommended where both faces will be seen, such as clothing tags where the reverse carries care instructions, sizing, or brand information.

Choosing the right size and shape for your product

The most popular rectangle sizes for retail and clothing are 50x100mm and 70x90mm - both sit well on most garments and products. For gift tags with more writing space, 60x140mm is a generous option. For smaller products, 35x60mm is compact but still legible. Round tags are also a popular choice - available from 40mm to 90mm diameter, they work particularly well on bottles, jars, and artisan food products. Finishing options that work well with standard board

Standard 350gsm silk board pairs well with most finishing options in the Handy Tags range. Rounded corners soften the tag and reduce the risk of corner curling during transit or display. A 4mm drill hole is the standard for string attachment - gold or silver eyelets can be added to reinforce the hole on tags that will be handled repeatedly. Natural cotton twine or jute string complement the white board for a clean, contemporary finish.

Where do you deliver?

We deliver swing tags throughout the UK, Northern Ireland, Scilly Isles, the Isle of Man and Scottish Highlands and Islands. If you require delivery to a destination further afield, this may be possible and will need to be quoted for on a bespoke basis; this is not an online service. We can deliver to Guernsey and Jersey but an offline quote is required. Delivery to European destinations is not available online and may not be possible; you may be required to arrange your own collection from us. This can be discussed with our sales team during the quoting stage.

How much do you charge for delivery?

Delivery to any mainland UK destination is FREE, so no hidden extras at checkout. Delivery areas outside mainland UK will incur an additional charge at checkout which will be displayed before you proceed with your order. Any additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by the recipient. Handy Brand UK Limited cannot accept any liability for any import duty that is levied by the destination country. Please check with your local tax office or import duty representative to ensure you are complying with the relevant regulations.

How fast can you print my swing tag order?

Once you have approved your PDF swing tag proof. We aim to print, finish and despatch your swing tag order within 48 hours. We use a trackable next day delivery service via DPD for all mainland UK destinations. Deliveries to destinations outside of mainland UK will result in additional days in transit; please allow for this.

What time of day do you deliver?

Once we've booked your order in for despatch, you will receive an SMS text message or email with a delivery date and time, with a 1-hour delivery window. In general, your order will be delivered between 9am - 6pm, Monday to Friday. (Not including Bank Holidays).

Can you deliver on a Saturday?

Yes, we can arrange for your order to be delivered on a Saturday. A Saturday delivery service will incur an additional charge, this type of order cannot be placed online. Please contact our handy customer service
