Choosing your folded hang tag style

There are 8 styles available, split across two shapes and two fold types. Rectangular book-fold styles (A, B, C, D) open right to left along the long edge. Style E is the only tent-fold style, opening bottom to top along the short edge. Square book-fold styles (F, G, H) open right to left and are available in three sizes. All styles are supplied flat, pre-creased, and ready for folding with a 4mm drill hole as standard. Alternative hole sizes (None, 3mm, 5mm, 6mm, 7mm, or 9mm) can be requested in the comments section at checkout.

Style guide and dimensions

Style A - A8 rectangular book fold: 74×52mm folded, flat size A7 (74×105mm). The smallest rectangular format; compact and neat, suited to jewellery, cosmetics, and small retail products where space is limited. Style B - A7 rectangular book fold: 105×74mm folded, flat size A6 (105×148mm). The most popular rectangular format; the right balance of size and printable area for clothing tags, food and beverage, and gifting. Style C - A6 rectangular book fold: 148×105mm folded, flat size A5 (148×210mm). A larger format giving generous inside printable area; suited to products requiring ingredient lists, care instructions, or detailed brand storytelling. Style D - A5 rectangular book fold: 210×148mm folded, flat size A4 (210×297mm). The largest rectangular format; maximum printable area across four sides, suited to products with extensive regulatory, compliance, or information requirements. Style E - A7 rectangular tent fold: 105×74mm folded, flat size 210×74mm. The only tent-fold style in the range; opens bottom to top and stands upright on a surface, making it useful for counter display and point-of-sale applications. Style F - 50×50mm square book fold: 50×50mm folded, flat size 50×100mm. The smallest square format; a distinctive shape that stands out from standard rectangular tags. Style G - 75×75mm square book fold: 75×75mm folded, flat size 75×150mm. The mid-size square format offering a good balance of distinctiveness and printable area. Style H - 100×100mm square book fold: 100×100mm folded, flat size 100×200mm. The largest square format; maximum printable area of the square styles, suited to premium gifting and products requiring more inside content.

Choosing the right material for your folded hang tag

10 materials are available for folded hang tags: Standard Silk, Brown Kraft, Textured, Recycled, Grey Pulpboard, Laminated, Foiled, Metallic, Neon, and Colour Board. Waterproof and Frosted materials are not available for folded hang tags as these are rigid plastic films that do not crease flat - they spring open due to their rigidity, which would compromise the fold and finish. Standard Silk is the most popular choice - smooth, full-colour print-ready, and cost-effective from 25 tags. For folded hang tags that will be handled repeatedly, Laminated (matt or gloss) provides greater durability and resistance to surface wear. We recommend keeping the creased spine free of ink where possible, as some natural cracking may occur along the fold. If printed ink is required across the spine, adding a laminate finish will protect the crease and keep the fold in perfect condition. For premium product presentation, Foiled (gold or silver) and Metallic (gold or silver) deliver an immediate impression of quality. For eco-conscious brands, Recycled board and Brown Kraft both carry recycled fibre content and complement a natural or sustainable brand positioning. Colour Board offers 6 colour choices for a bold, distinctive look. Neon board is available in yellow, pink, orange, and green for high-impact applications.

How to get the best print results

Folded hang tags are printed using full-colour CMYK or white ink on your chosen material. Supply artwork at a minimum resolution of 300dpi at the final flat print size. Download the artwork template for your chosen style using the Download Template button in the calculator - each style has a unique flat size, fold line, and cut line that must be accounted for in the artwork. Keep critical content at least 5mm from all cut and fold edges. Keep body copy at 8pt or above for legibility after printing and folding. Single-sided vs double-sided printing

Most folded hang tags are ordered double-sided, which gives four printable surfaces across the front cover, inside left, inside right, and back panels. The front cover carries your brand identity. The inside panels carry the detail - care instructions, ingredient lists, brand story, or product information. The back panel is typically used for a website URL, QR code, social handles, or country of manufacture. Style D, at A5 folded, provides the largest total printable area of any style in the range and is particularly suited to products with extensive information requirements.

Frequently asked questions

What drill hole sizes are available?

The standard drill hole is 4mm. Alternative sizes available are None, 3mm, 5mm, 6mm, 7mm, and 9mm. To request a different hole size, specify your preference in the comments section at checkout.

Are folded hang tags supplied ready to fold?

Yes. All folded hang tags are supplied flat, pre-creased, and ready for folding. No additional equipment or tools are required.

Will the fold crack the printed ink?

Some natural cracking can occur at the fold spine where printed ink sits directly on the crease. We recommend keeping the spine free of ink where possible. If your design requires ink across the spine, adding a matt or gloss laminate will protect the spine from creasing and prevent cracking.

Why are Waterproof and Frosted materials not available?

Waterproof polyester film and Frosted film are rigid plastic materials that do not crease flat - they spring open due to their rigidity, which would compromise the fold and finish of the tag. Both materials are available across other products in our range where creasing is not required.

Can I order a custom shape or size?

The 8 standard styles cover a wide range of rectangular and square formats. If you require a custom shape or size outside the standard range, please contact us for a quotation.

What is the minimum order quantity?
